Meet our team 
Amy Barnes
Head of Climate & Sustainability Strategy
Amy leads our global Climate Change and Sustainability strategy. Prior to this Amy held a number of leadership roles with Marsh’s Global Energy, Power & Renewables business. Amy has a respected depth and breadth of experience assisting some of the largest and most complex companies manage risks. This experience enables Amy to have a deep understanding of a wide range of clients’ risk management approaches and can offer a number of perspectives to insurance and risk management discussions.
John Colas
Partner and Vice Chairman, Financial Services Americas
John has worked in each of the world’s principal financial centers advising senior management in financial services and the public sector on critical matters of strategy, regulation, and risk and capital management. He is a co-leader of Oliver Wyman’s Climate and Sustainability platform, while also serving on ÈÕ±¾ÎÞÂë’s Climate Risk and Sustainability Task Force and Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance Committee.
Josh Darr
Managing Director, Global Head of Peril Advisory
Josh joined Guy Carpenter in 2019, holding a number of roles with Peril Advisory, including Senior Vice President & Meteorologist, and Head of North America Peril Advisory & Meteorologist. He previously worked at JLT Re, serving as Vice President and Meteorologist Catastrophe Risk, Management Services, prior to being appointed Senior Vice President and Lead Meteorologist. Before this, he spent over six years at Chesapeake Energy, where he served as Energy and Agricultural Meteorologist, and close to five years at credit rating agency Moody’s, where he held a number of positions. Since 2009, Josh has been an Adjunct Professor at Northern Illinois University, where he serves as a thesis committee member for students conducting graduate research applicable to the private sector with an emphasis on commodities and insurance applications, among other responsibilities. Josh is a graduate of Cornell University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology. He received his master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University at Albany.
Swenja Surminski
Managing Director, Climate & Sustainability
Swenja is Managing Director Climate and Sustainability at ÈÕ±¾ÎÞÂë. She is responsible for thought leadership on climate and sustainability. She is also a member of the UK's Committee on Climate Change, Chair of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative and Professor in Practice at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, part of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
